MUSIC

As in Wong Kar-Wai's or Stanley Kubrick's films, the music of Martin Boulocq's prime opera plays a fundamental role, contaminating the images -and at the same time being contaminated by them- with a subtle though fulminating melancholy, impossible to be removed from the spectator once the film is over and it is time to go back home. Floating in the air, atmospheric, involving, it never tries to accentuate the narrative nor direct the audience anywhere. More specifically, "Mi dolor" ("My sorrow"), the main theme of "The most beautiful of my very best years", written by Diego Boulocq (photo), confirms him as one of the country's most promising composers. The work of both of them, the secret conection established through their respective arts, is impeccable and culminates in an extraordinary and unforgettable film.
